Wander Through the Waterfront Arts Festival
Get outside along the shores of Lake Huron to view unique art made by the Tawas Bay artists before summer says its goodbye. From epic landscape photography to acrylic equestrian paintings and handmade baskets, the Tawas Bay Waterfront Fine Arts Festival is host to a variety of art mediums sure to satisfy anyone with a creative edge to their person. Tawas City hosts the 55th Annual Tawas Bay Waterfront Fine Arts Festival this August, a media exhibit where all exhibited items must be original work and handcrafted by the artist. You are guaranteed to find no commercially-made items besides the pieces in artist-designed jewelry. If you’re interested in homemade, handmade art and items, the Waterfront Fine Arts Festival is held August 6, 2016 from 9am-5pm and August 7th from 10am-4pm at Tawas City Park. To find more information about the arts festival, or even an application to exhibit your own art, visit the website.
The Tawas Bay Art Council & Gallery is also open year-round. Their hours are Monday-Saturday 10am-6pm and Sunday 11am-4pm. It may be a good place to find your home’s next piece of art, pottery, or gifts for friends and family from your stay at the Huron House. Another option while you’re in the area is the instructional art classes available for all skill levels offered by the Gallery.
