Hale Yes Winterfest
The drive west to Hale for the township’s annual Winterfest is half the reason why you should go. With twenty miles on River Road, the National Scenic Byway that follows the Au Sable River, you’re guaranteed to catch sight of some breathtaking views of our pristine winter landscape. Snow-capped trees and untouched, snow-covered ground along the shores of the scenic Au Sable River will make you want to stop (even in the cold!) and take in the view.
Your destination is where the fun begins, though. On January 19th, Hale’s Winterfest is packed full of exciting and entertaining games, great food, and competitive activities. The Arts and Crafts Show starts early and runs all day, from 9AM-4PM. Bed Races take place in the Senior Center Parking Lot at 11AM and then head on over to the Library’s “Old Historical Room” for the Chili Cook-Off from 11AM-2PM. The Fishing Contest will be on West Londo Lake from 8AM-4PM, no entry fee required! If you’re feeling creative, enter the Build-A-Snowman competition, but don’t forget to follow the guidelines. You can use anything but snow!
