Corsair Trail

The Corsair Skiing and Hiking Trail makes up over 26 miles of hiking and is a great winter adventure into the snow-covered Silver Valley, surrounded by 120,000 acres of the Huron National Forest, and only a short drive south from the Huron House. Each of Corsair’s network of trails has an entry point only about seven miles northwest of East Tawas. The Corsair Picnic Area can be found on the west side of Monument Road, Wright’s Lake entry point on the east side of Monument Road, and Silver Valley’s trailhead can also be found on the east side of Monument Road. Parking areas and toilet facilities are also located at each trailhead. The Silver Valley trailhead offers a breathtaking view of over 20 miles across the famous Au Sable River Valley. There is still a vibrant collection of wildlife to catch sight of and the view from the Silver Valley vista can’t be missed. This is a popular spot for hikers to catch a glimpse of snowstorms rolling in from far, far away and to view the local landscape around them. Corsair is one of the most popular trails in the winter, and one of the largest groomed trails in the state of Michigan. The hiking on the Corsair Trails ranges from level to gently rolling hills, making it a pleasant time for a hike.
