Perchville USA: Tawas’s Annual Winter Festival
Get outdoors and down to Tawas this coming February for the annual Perchville USA, the epic Winter Festival held February 4th to February 7th that hosts an eclectic mix of varieties from swimming to chili. Initiate yourself in the frigid waters of Lake Huron with the legendary tradition, the polar bear plunge. Make sure someone is waiting for you with a towel or two at hand and then head to the Hospitality Tent, behind Harbor Park and next to the State Dock, where $3 adult beverages are served. On Newman Street, spice up your cold day with a hot cup of chili from local stores and cooks at the Chilly Cook-off—and then vote for your favorite one!
Throughout the four-day festival, you can watch the 8-square-foot snow sculptures slowly take shape on Bay Street before being judged at noon on Sunday. Keep your stomach full by visiting the bake sale or the fish fry. There are dozens of events, activities, and festival attractions happening all around Tawas, so visit the website for a schedule, map, and more information.
