17th Annual Blues by the Bay Festival
Better draw straws for the designated driver; the most anticipated summer music event in the area takes center stage at Harbor Park in East Tawas. Nine musicians and bands make up the lineup of this annual music festival (and the best part of it is that it's affordable!) For just $25.00, you gain access to all three days of the event with the majesty of Tawas Bay as the backdrop.
The Blues by the Bay Festival was started as an all-volunteer nonprofit organization in 2002 dedicated to the promotion and preservation of blues music and its culture. Support the artists and musical genre itself and have a great time doing it! Here's what the schedule looks like: Friday evening, enjoy two performances by Deuice 'n a Quarter and Shawn Holt and the Teardrops. Saturday starts the second day at 12:00PM with The Sax Maniacs, Chris Canas Band, Tosha Owens, Selwyn Birchwood, and finally Dana Fuchs at 8PM. The final day has two performances by Studebaker John at 1:00PM, concluding the weekend with a 3PM performance by Big Ray and the Motor City Kings.
When it's all over and you're not quite ready to pack your bags and return home (especially with work on Monday morning!), take one last stroll out along East Tawas State Dock and its gentle curve. As it wraps around the boats and docks of the city, soak in the breeze off Lake Huron and try to picture yourself back here, in this spot, next year (but we'd love to have you sooner!)
The 17th Annual Blues by the Bay Festival will be held Friday, August 24 to Sunday, August 26. Visit the website for more information.
